Nearly 400 people helped celebrate Franktown Fire Protection District’s 50th anniversary Aug. 17. Visitors had an opportunity to get close to ambulances and fire engines, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office squad car and incident dispatch truck, and a HealthOne Airlife Helicopter landing. They also observed auto-extrication demonstrations.
Children were entertained with an inflatable safety fire house, Castlewood Canyon’s reptile friends, dunking the chief and their favorite firefighters, and trying on equipment and spraying fire hoses. The day finished off with a dedication of Franktown’s new brush truck, which firefighters and the community pushed into the station’s bay.
