House fire erupts in Parker

A homeowner is cleaning up the mess left by a destructive house fire south of Parker.

A home on Burr Oak Lane in the Pinery sustained significant damage as a result of the fire that was called in around 2:20 p.m. Aug. 28.

No occupants were in the home when the fire started and there were no reported injuries. Becky O'Guin, spokeswoman for the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, said crews were doing mop-up work as of 3:15 p.m.

O'Guin said it was determined that the fire was accidental with a likely electrical cause.

The two-story house is a block away from the Colorado Horse Park. Kyle Fenner, business development manager at the equestrian venue, sent photos of horse park staff helping to put out the fire. She added that she was proud of their effort to try and save the home.

“They got in, cut the power, pulled out our water truck, first on scene, swept the lower part of the house. Pulled hose, worked the hydrant,” Fenner said via e-mail.

Fire crews from South Metro and Franktown Fire were able to get a car, motorcycle and ATV out of the garage and extinguished the flames within about 25 minutes.
