Parker police have arrested a suspect in the May 22 shooting near the intersection of Parker Road and Crown Crest Boulevard. Police originally thought the shooting was related to a road-rage incident, but now officials say it was a random act of violence.
Abraham Paquet, 29, could face charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree assault with extreme indifference, illegal discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
According to a news release by the Parker Police Department July 18, Paquet allegedly pulled up next to another car in the middle of rush hour on the E-470 exit ramp and fired multiple shots. The victim was shot in the hand and was treated and released from Parker Adventist Hospital. The victim's name has not been released.
Paquet was already in custody in El Paso County on unrelated charges during the time of his arrest by Parker police. He is currently being held in the El Paso County jail without bond.
The passenger in Paquet's truck faces charges as an accessory to the crime.
