Dante Delgado started to play lacrosse because of peer pressure.
The Douglas County senior is the leading goal scorer on the team and the early season goals leader in the Douglas County League this season.
“I've played lacrosse for five years,” said Delgado. “I saw my friends playing it when I was in eighth grade so I thought I would give it a try and it just stuck. The sport is getting big now. I used to play football. I played football for about 10 years but I was too small. I didn't like it as much.”
Delgado, a midfielder, likes the scoring aspect of the game.
“You just have to get open, look for the open man and take a shot and hopefully it goes in,” he explained. “If it doesn't go in, just keep your head up and keep going. You have to have a lot of accuracy and lot of practice with your shots.”
In the Huskies' first four games, Delgado had 13 goals and five assists for 18 points.
`He's a good kid with a good head on his shoulders and the team feeds off that energy. He's definitely been the recipient of a lot of goals. He's accustomed to scoring. It's not his first rodeo by any means.'
