County receives additional Insulate Colorado rebate funds

After the successful distribution of more than $10,000 to 47 Douglas County homeowners for insulation installation rebates, the county has secured an additional $10,000 for distribution in partnership with the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) and the Insulate Colorado program.

Qualified homeowners may apply for a rebate of 20 percent off the cost of installation of either attic or exterior wall insulation and basic recommended air sealing measures, or $300 maximum per home, whichever is less through the Insulate Colorado program.

Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted and will only be issued to homeowners who meet all of the qualifications. A rebate will not be given for new construction and homeowners must use an eligible contractor who has had the GEO program training. Copies of all contractor invoices and official insulation cards must be submitted with the Homeowner Rebate Request Form.

For program guidelines, a list of eligible/licensed contractors and a Homeowner Rebate Request Form, visit www.douglas.co.us/community/Insulate_Colorado.html. For more information contact Nancy Gedeon in the Douglas County Community Planning and Sustainable Development Department at 303-660-7460.

Motor vehicle offices accept credit cards

Effective immediately, all Douglas County Motor Vehicle offices will begin accepting credit cards in an effort to make pay¬ment more convenient. The county will continue to accept cash and personal checks.

In partnership with the Colorado Department of Revenue and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA), the Douglas County Motor Vehicle offices will offer the option of paying by credit card for all over the counter services and online vehicle renewals.

In addition to the payment amount, each transaction will be subject to an administrative fee of 2.7 percent that covers the cost associated with providing this service. This fee is paid to a third party that provides these services for Colorado.gov and thus is not revenue for the state or county
