E-470 construction to close lanes

Posted

E-470 is beginning a six-month project to reconstruct 2.5 miles in Douglas County, with traffic shifts starting the night of April 20.

The $9.5 million construction project will upgrade lanes between Parker Road and the toll plaza near Chambers Road. Beginning at 9 p.m. April 20, eastbound traffic approaching the E-470 toll plaza will be reduced to two lanes and will shift to the right, traveling through two of the previously closed toll booth lanes near Chambers Road. The speed limit through the toll booth lanes will be reduced to 25 mph.

The eastbound lane shifts will occur for approximately three weekends, weather permitting: April 20-22, April 27-29, and May 4-6.  The lane shifts will begin each Friday at 9 p.m. and end no later than Monday morning at 6 a.m.

The contractor will remove and replace the full depth of pavement on a portion of the original five-mile segment of E-470 that opened in Douglas County in 1991.
