During the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw how vital Colorado’s health care workers are to keeping our communities safe and healthy.

As mayor of Lone Tree, I witnessed how devastating the pandemic was to our residents, small businesses and greater Denver. We are so fortunate in Lone Tree to have access to a top-notch medical community at Sky Ridge Medical Center — including local health care workers who have been tireless in their efforts to keep us safe while continuing to provide great quality services. As we make our way through the stages of recovery, it is important to acknowledge the debt of gratitude we owe our frontline health care workers.

As we look to the future and resumption of our “new normal,” scheduling regular health checkups and screenings must return to our routine. With increases in telehealth services and continued safety protocols, it is safer than ever to visit our doctors’ offices and hospitals. Any annual exam will be beneficial for our health and well-being.

A healthy economic recovery requires a healthy workforce and community, and we cannot let coronavirus resurgences or other community health scares derail the progress we have made. I urge everyone to book their medical appointments — our local health care workers are dedicated to keeping us safe and healthy. Without them, we would not be in the strong position we are against COVID-19.

Please take every opportunity to let our health care workers know the difference they have made. And get a checkup, it deeply matters to the people who love you!
