Free speech and ethics challenged?

I was shocked to see Smith Young’s challenge to our Democratic Party county chair’s values of freedom of speech and ethics (letter in the papers of Jan. 21 and 22). Don’t Conservative Blogs have the same values as the rest of us? The local party members feel very strongly about these issues which can be seen in the platform:

“As trust is paramount in these social networks, we believe that our government should be comprised of public servants who place honesty and transparency in highest regard and operate from a shared set of facts.”

“We believe that all members of our society have added value, and that their voices are worth being heard.”

“We support safeguarding our election process so it truly reflects the will of the American people.’

The days of “fake news” are over! It is time to recognize the good work that political parties are capable of performing and focus our efforts on providing for shared needs.
