Letter to the editor: Re: Chauvin conviction

Perhaps last week’s letter writer who claims Derek Chauvin was convicted to appease a mob will join me in condemning all mob violence – in the streets of Minneapolis and by the Trump-inspired mob who stormed our Capitol. Perhaps he can then explain – since he clearly stands for law and order – why he does not support the rule of law in Minnesota, its courts, and maligns the integrity of all the police witnesses who testified against Chauvin. Perhaps even better he can offer up ideas to address the issues that caused the street protests he calls mobs. These problems are not new: many cities burned in 1968 because of Martin Luther King Jr’s murder, a police building burned because of George Floyd’s murder. That was then. Our challenges are now. We need constructive voices, good ideas, and most of all ways we can move forward as a strong, compassionate, and united nation.

Arvada
