Hundreds of residents spent their Saturday cleaning up various trails around the Town of Parker as part of the Inaugural Mayor’s Day of Service, according to an organizer for the event.

The Sept. 25 event was organized by Just Serve and the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The group first met for the kickoff of the event at 9 a.m. at O’Brien Park, where Mayor Jeff Toborg and other organizers spoke to the volunteers.

“I thank you for giving back to your community,” Toborg said, according to a recording of the event.

The volunteers helped clean up several trails including Baldwin Gulch Trail, Sulphur Gulch Trail and Cherry Creek Regional Trail.

“We hope that this will be something that happens year after year after year,” said Shaun Gann, one of the organizers.
