Lutheran High School's class of 2021 walked across the stage at Southeast Christian Church to receive their diplomas May 26.

Valedictorians Ainsley Groetken, Sydney Samuels, Katie Sundrup, Noah Kelly, Emerson Knapp and Nora Fingerlin spoke during the commencement, reading Bible verses and talking to the class about their next stage in life.

The strong faith of the students and school was prevalent throughout the event.

Former teacher Jordan Murphy also gave a class address, telling graduates and their families about his experience being inside the Aurora theater that was terrorized by James Holmes in 2012 and how his faith grew stronger as a result. He encouraged students to embrace their faith in the next chapter of their lives.

"No matter what the future holds for you, you can know who holds it," he said. "Class of 2021, go live in freedom and perfect peace that your future is secured because of your steadfast faith in a God that is doing nothing that isn't for your highest, deepest and longest lasting good."
