A Commerce City man was arrested Aug. 19 in connection to a fatal car and motorcycle crash in northeast Douglas County.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrested Manuel Frias-Cabrera, 29. He is being held on $50,000 bond at the Douglas County jail.
Frias-Cabrera faces charges of vehicular homicide, failure to remain at the scene after an accident, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and careless driving resulting in death.
At about 6:20 a.m. Aug. 19, police responded to a crash between a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of County Line Road and Piney Lake Road in an unincorporated part of northeast Douglas County.
Witnesses reported to police they saw the driver of the car involved in the crash flee on foot. The driver returned to the scene after the crash, according to a news release. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
“While this is still an open and active investigation, traffic investigators do believe that drugs and/or alcohol may have been a factor,” the news release states.
The sheriff's office stated it will not release a photo of the suspect “due to the active investigation,” the report reads.
