• Joseph Dalton scored 24 points and Kobe Sanders added 16 as the boys basketball team, top-ranked in the CHSAANow.com Class 5A poll, defeated Highlands Ranch, 66-56, on Jan. 25 in a Continental League game. The Wolverines faced Regis Jesuit on Jan. 29 to start a tough stretch that includes a Jan. 31 contest at Rock Canyon and a Feb. 8 game against ThunderRidge.

• The girls basketball team downed Castle View, 44-35, on Jan. 23 but dropped a 58-26 decision to second-ranked Highlands Ranch on Jan. 25. Senior Mack Maier led the team with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal in the win over Castle View.

• The fifth-ranked hockey team scored five times in the first period and went on to collect a 10-5 win over No. 6 Mountain Vista on Jan. 21. Alex Harlan had four goals and three assists for seven points and Dylan Florit had a pair of goals and three assists for five points in the Vista game. JT Waufle had a power-play goal but the team was outshot 39-15 in a 6-1 loss to top-ranked Regis Jesuit on Jan. 25. The team held a 53-18 advantage in shots on goal in a 9-1 victory over Pueblo County on Jan. 26. Harlan had two goals and three assists and Michael Gaudio had a pair of goals and two assists. Harlan has 11 goals and 33 points for the season.

• Elle Bevis, with 12 points, Kassie Rembisz, with 11, and Lauren Carmack, with 10, led the girls basketball team in a 47-44 win over Overland on Jan. 21. Ally Lowe topped the team with six points in a 63-25 setback to second-ranked Highlands Ranch on Jan. 23. Freshman Kinzie Whitehead had 10 points in a 44-26 victory over Douglas County on Jan. 25.

• Garrett Siebert had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Tanner Ellis contributed 15 points in a 58-37 conquest of Highlands Ranch on Jan. 23. The team lost 65-62 to Douglas County on Jan. 25.

Lutheran

• The girls basketball team led by 25 points at halftime and went on to notch a 63-34 win over SkyView Academy on Jan. 23. Freshman Kaitlin Kyle led the team with 15 points in the game against SVA. Stephanie Schultz had 18 points as the team allowed only two points in each quarter in a 70-8 romp over Stargate School on Jan. 25.

• The boys basketball team defeated SkyView Academy, 68-37, on Jan. 23 and rolled to an 81-42 victory over Stargate School on Jan. 25.

Ponderosa

• The wrestling team was fourth in the Class 5A rankings released on Jan. 24 by On The Mat. The Mustangs have two individual wrestlers ranked first. Mosha Schwartz tops the list of 126-pound wrestlers and three-time state champion Cohlton Schultz is top ranked at 285 pounds.

• Sophomore Ben Jones was the top scorer for the boys basketball team with 11 points in a 55-35 loss to Rock Canyon on Jan. 23. Junior Gabe Mcdevitt scored 14 points in a 57-41 setback to Mountain Vista on Jan. 25.

• Junior Katherine Higgins scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds in a 57-43 win over Rock Canyon on Jan 23. Sophomore Liberty Line added 12 points in the Rock Canyon victory and also had eight rebounds and six steals. Higgins had 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Line scored 13 points in a 56-43 loss to Mountain Visa on Jan 25. Line’s 22 points took game scoring honors in a 56-20 romp over Elizabeth on Jan. 26.
