Extreme wildfire conditions led Parker Town Council to approve a ban on open burning.
Council unanimously passed an ordinance April 16 to protect Parker “against fires that may be triggered by open fires, open burning and fireworks within the town.” Prohibited activities include campfires and warming fires, as well as the use of fireworks and even model rockets. However, residential use of charcoal grills and liquid-fueled stoves and grills is allowed.
The ordinance will remain in effect for 90 days after adoption or until July 19, unless Town Council lifts the prohibition on open burning.
