Parker's Baker is named to 20 Under 40 list

Tanja Baker, vice president of Gorilla Capital, has been named one of the winners of this year's "20 Under 40" awards. Each year, 20 of Eugene's most notable emerging business leaders under the age of 40 are recognized with the award. Judged by a panel of local business leaders, the accolade is given to professionals for their significant contributions to their companies and for their potential to impact the community's future.

"It is an honor to be recognized with this award," Baker said. "I am very fortunate to work at a firm that offers so many opportunities for young professionals to succeed."

Baker joined Gorilla Capital in July 2006 and was promoted to vice president in 2009. She is actively involved in her community, giving her time to several organizations including the Eugene Marathon. She has also served as an assistant volleyball coach at several area high schools.

"Tanja is a natural leader who continuously goes beyond the call of duty in the workplace," said John Helmick, CEO of Gorilla Capital. "She is well respected by her colleagues and is both enthusiastic and inspiring. We are lucky to have her on our team."

Tanja grew up in Parker, Colo., where her parents still live. She attended Ponderosa High School in Colorado and graduated from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., with a bachelor's degree in biology.
