Scavenger hunt to fill Independence Day void

Posted

The Downtown Business Alliance is hosting a social media contest to celebrate Independence Day and promote local businesses.

The annual Stars and Stripes celebration hosted by the Town of Parker has been canceled this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The DBA created a fireworks scavenger hunt with participating businesses to celebrate Independence Day to fill that void.

Three winners of the social media scavenger hunt will be given a $25 gift certificate to a DBA business. Winners will be announced the week of July 6.

Those interested in playing are to take a selfie with a fireworks display hidden inside a participating downtown Parker business. “Downtown” businesses are located along E. Mainstreet on either side of Parker Road, as well as off Victorian Drive and Pikes Peak Avenue. A full list of DBA members can be found at downtownparker.com.

To participate follow these steps:

  1. Look for the “Hometown Holiday” logo in the front window of a downtown Parker business.
  2. While maintaining proper social distancing and hygiene etiquette, locate the hidden fireworks display.
  3. Take a selfie.
  4. Post your selfie and tag @DowntownParker on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtags #DTP and #HometownHoliday2020. (In order to tag @DowntownParker, you must follow the account).
