Work means closure at Arapahoe and Parker roads

Posted

Special to CCN

On Feb. 10 and Feb. 13, the Colorado Department of Transportation will install bridge girders for the new Parker Road bridge over Arapahoe Road. The work will require full closures of Arapahoe Road at Parker Road each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. All work is weather permitting.

“We have been trying to install the girders for several weeks now, but snow and cold temperatures have prevented us from completing the work,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard. “If weather conditions improve tomorrow through the weekend as expected, we will be able to install all of the girders on Thursday and Sunday nights.”

While the work is under way, the following detour routes will be in place:

Eastbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on eastbound Arapahoe Road will take a right onto Chambers Way and drive behind the Cornerstar Mall to Parker Road.

Westbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on westbound Arapahoe Road will take Lewiston Way north around Arapahoe Crossings mall to the traffic signal at Parker Road.

Delays are expected each night and alternate routes are strongly advised.

Hamon Constructors Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by the end of November 2011.
